First time on Nitto Drags, bad results..due to?
Whats up,
Yesterday i went over to the track, to try out my day old nitto drag's. Typically i use 28" hoosiers for racing. So, weather is mid low 70's, humidity at 30% or so. Pretty good day for racing i thought. First time up, 2.05 60', 13.15 at 105.5mph...........That's awful, awful off the line, awful mph. So i thought, maybe the trucks just hot, so i skipped a round. Next run, engine coolant at 160 something degrees, I launced a little harder, and got a 1.98 or something 60ft, and ran a 13.0 at 105.4. I left after that due to sheer irritation. I know that my 60's sucked, and im leaving about 4 tenths on the table compared to my slicks, but honestly, where's my mph? Fuel filter is less than 5,000 miles old. Plugs might use a checking, they have about 10,000 or so on them, maybe 15,000.
My best time in 60 degree weather was 12.52 @ 109.5, so where did 4mph go?
The only diff was, i was on the nittos, and left the tailgate on.
Potential problems, let me know what you guys think;
Old blower belt slipping? Its 2 yrs old?
Dirty fuel filter? 5,000 miles old
Bad plugs? 10,000 miles old
Weak coils?
Header gasket leak? Not sure about that one, but its possible if it were on the passenger side.
Pretty dissapointed, i dont even care about the 13.0, but the 105mph just isnt right. I did 105mph on pulley and chip. Hell, this year i've even went 12.6 in 90 degree temps. So whats you guys best guess of where my power went? I cant figure it out.

I hate to mention this, but it could be a sign of the trans forward clutch going, or even a converter problem. If you have torque reduction turned off in the tune it may be time for a rebuild.
Check the simpler and cheaper things first though.

Did you heat cycle the Nittos?? If you didn't they won't hook for *****. When I put new ones on I take the truck somewhere and do a really BIG burnout. After the tires cool down they are way more sticky.
Well i've got the same problem here, the thing was that there was no traction compound at the track and with the nt555r spinning the best run of mine was...
60 ft :2.55
1/8 mile:9.478 @83.18
1/4 mile:14.17 @ 105.38 mph
I was running with 100 shot of nitrous
I,m stock exept for the nitrous kit and my traction bars(lakewoods) and no cats
The track here is ****! and for street legal there was no traction compound
So next time i,m comming with et streets lol
I think that nothing is wrong with your truck just it didn't hook up that good or maybe it could be the weather too
good luck solving your problem buddy

Drag radials. I think they are more sticky than my hoosiers. Those were my first two passes out on them, so i'm sure i'll improve. I wasnt bashing nitto's, i was saying my truck wasnt running right, or something. It sometimes seems like 4500 up to 4900 in each gear, is kind of sluggish....Belt slip? running out of pump? I'm at a loss here. I'm going to change the plugs, filter this weekend. I may try Denso's instead of the Tr6's
