Post SVT Thunder

I just read that mid next year Svt will be coming out with the Thunder a supercharged expedition.A 5.4 4 valve Kenne Bell supercharger 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds,if its 4 wheel drive than its mine.and if I don't have to refinance my house, also read that in 2001 there will be an svt ranger called Adrenalin, supercharged xtend a cab 280 hp.

I read that info on www.blueoval.com. There is a lot of info on all the ford products and there is a message board like this one also. Ford is also making a baby powerstroke V6 engine along with a new 5.4 3 valve triton, which I think will be in the 2001.5 lightning bumping it up to almost 450hp,they area also working on a 5 cylinder direct injection engine with Yamaha.

Hey guys, Sal here. One thing I'd like to point out about Blue Oval News is that you can't take everything you read there as law. From the stuff I've read there, I'd have to say that about 85% of it is preliminary information that never becomes reality. I know what's planned for the 2001 Lightning as of right now. I can't really release the info, but what I CAN say, is there will be no 4V heads, no 3V heads, and it won't be 450hp. It won't be much more radical than our current trucks. Just a few tweaks. The only thing I can really say is that the 2001 Lightning will be very close to a 99 with my filter kit and chip (that's a hint).

Thumbs up

Hats off to you LightningTuner! Alot
of what is posted on BON is rumor but
some of it is true....
I also work for Ford and have had to
sit through more than my share of
meetings dealing with security issues
and leaks. I give you alot of credit
for not disclosing future product
info. in a direct fashion!

Sal,

Could it be that FoMoCo is not really changing anything for 2001 - just claiming hp and torque figures that are a little closer to the true output of our '99's?

Just joking, but the "real" '99.5 power vs. advertised power does appear to give them at least some room to manuver the numbers.

If they did have a 450hp Lightning and a 5.5 seconds 0-60 expedition, Ford would rule the performance world for trucks.
