psp nitrous plate install question?
psp nitrous plate install question?
bought my old nitrous kit back today, the only thing i think it needs is the longer bolts for the throttle body,
i took a peak and you definately need 2 longer screws for the top, the bottoms that have the studs though look like they might be long enough
is this correct? any help appreciated

hardware
you should be able to find bolts that fit for the throttle body, but metric flange bolts are not a common thing. Also, you will not find those studs i a hardware store.
I know, I own one!!

The bottom bolts are special
BUT ONLY because they act as a spacer, and keep the throttle cable assy
off the Throttle Body to create the correct tension on the cables.
Sals hardware is 4 longer bolts, and two spacers, the spacers go after the Throttle Body, and before the Throttle Cable Assy, this replaces the factor lower 2 bolts (that again are nothing more than a built in spacer)
If your factory bolts will fit, hell ya use them, no problem there,
just make sure you replace or create that proper spacing between the TB and Cable Bracket Assy. I'm sure you can make the spacers simple enough if you cant wait to order the hardware from Sal.

E-Mail Suavy, I believe he has some extra hardware ; o )
For some reason I cant link Sals pic to here right now from his site ???
but here's a Pic of the Race Tested Plate, it's designed after Sal's plate,
(tested and tweaked by me and Sal, on my truck).
I ran the Proto Type for over 1000 miles, it's identicle except double the thickness to except the special type of injector (nozzle) Race Tested uses,
you can clearly see the spacers I talk of

pay no attention to the special bracket on the right side, that is needed for the RT plate due to it being so thick, it goes at the third mouting point of the Throttle Cable Bracket Assy, you do not need that.
EDIT
Beef you actually might be able to use the stock Bolts ? I never tried it but in this picture I'm actually using Sals Hardware on Denny's Plate. AS you can see the Bolts are still PLENTY LONG, even though Denny's plate is twice as thick.
If you look very hard at the lower right TB Bolt, you can almost see what I'm talking about.

k, went out and looked, and buying some longer bolts should be fine, however, i noticed the throttle body bracket also mounts down by a reservoir, do you just leave it unbolted here? doesn't seem like it would be sturdy enough?
Your fine there,
with Sals plate it will bolt back down fine, just use a fender washer, you'll see what I mean when you look at it, the bracket is open and slotted at that mounting point.
With the one in my pic, you would need that bracket but again thats only because of the extra thickness. I used Sal's for years and never had a prob with that 3rd mounting plate. A simple washer is all it takes.

last q, and i should be ok, are the thickness and pitch of the top and bottom t/b bolts the same size? other than being longer on the bottom?
was gonna a pull a top bolt and head off to the hardware store

I'm going to answer that one too
I happen to have just took a pic of mine saturday
In the orig pic they were layed out right to left
I just cloned the right side upper bolt
and put it on top of the left side upper bolt
SO it seems the bolts ARE the same size
