Eaton superchargers have an oil that does not require change. I would check its level at 100,000 miles. Ford charges about 21.00 for a four ounce bottle. The same exact oil from a GM parts center is under 3.50. To check the level on a lightning I beleive the supercharger will have to be removed because it is mounted upside down.

Cool

The Supercharger fluid should be inspected and serviced if dirty every 30,000 miles.
The vehicle must be on a smooth level service and teh allen plug can be removed on the front of the blower. The fluid should be level with the bottom of the threads. If low add fluid ( E9SZ-19577-A) or Equivalent that meets (ESE-M99C115-A) spec. The plug is then retightened. This fluid smells the worse, so make sure you wear gloves, It is worse than differential fluid.

For GM part # its the same oil they put in the poniacs and buick with the eaton supercharger. The thunderbird SC would go easily 100,000 miles with no servicing. The oil does smell terrible and is dangerous if absorbed though the skin.

I work on cars ,and I changed the fluid in the owners sons SC TBird . Does smell very bad. I used vacume brake bleeder to suck fluid out . Does not have drain. Worked very well . Tbird used 2 bottles . Blower on truck looks biger , so may take more. Recomend get enough before starting. We had to wait 2 days for second bottle. Will change my blower fluid at 30k.

I've heard of people using red line synthetic gear oil to replace the supercharger oil. Has anyone heard of this. http://www.eaton.com/supercharger/

Question Blower Maintenance

Anyone with info on if, when, and how to change the oil for the blower? I have heard that it is lubricated for life, but believe it would be good to do as a PM.
