Superchip trials and errors & success!
What a day! My Superchip arrived the day before I take the Lightning to San Franciso for the week (1800 miles roundtrip). Should I try to install it hummm ... yes! The instructions could still be improved upon, especially a photo of the connector in the engine compartment and the infamous 10 mm. bolt. First discovery, you may think you have the bolt loose, but you probably don't. The connector actually does come off if the bolt is sufficiently loosened. Popped off the plastic snap retainer (and forgot which side has the little ear/tab on it). It also landed behind the passenger side plastic guard and had to be retrieved by feel. Cleaned the contacts (I thought) with the green pad that was furnished. I didn't have any high grade alcohol (read tape head quality -- no water content) so just the pad. Reinstalled the computer and decided to simply clip the retainer in a lower position than the original center location. This seems to work well (anybody else do this?). Turn key and crank twice, no fire! Remove computer, examine pins, clean some more and reinstall. Instant Horsepower! For the time being I have simply taped the toggle switch to the case body with duct tape. I don't plan to switch it. So far I like it -- the trip (1800 miles) will tell more. I hope I don't have any problems with any connections or ground points coming loose. Everything held fine over three steel cow stopper joints on the road near our home.
Added note: My Michelin Safety Kit just arrived (a freebie for buying 4 Michelins earlier this year -- a high quality kit I must say).
What a day!

Dear Zonaman,
Congratulations on being up and running with your new Superchip! Most likely you won't ever take it out of the performance mode, as once people feel it, they never want to go back to stock.
I personally don't use that green scotch-brite pad they include with the Superchip, simply becasue that silicone-based coating you have to remove is clear, and you really can't see how much you're removing with the pad. I have always done my installs using a small straight-blade screwdriver to scrape the contacts, and that way I can see when they are cleaned well enough. Superchips just started including those pads a few months ago, so I'll probably never change how I do my installs.
Have a great trip, and enjoy your new Superchip!
