Towing
Just to let everyone know the Lightning tows just fine. Picked up my 23 foot cat with twin outboards(About 3000 pounds total) and towed it from Maine to Newjersey up and down hills with no problems. The truck didn't downshift as much as my Suburban hauling the same weight. Plus get alot more looks and thumbs up from people.

SCOTTODOG,
I pull my 21' Scarab regularly (454 High Output, 3400 pounds). I agree, You certainly get more looks with a boat in tow.
If You tow alot, you may want to equip your trailer with brakes. Something tells me our replacements will be costly and the trailers brakes will cut down on pre-mature wear. I have pulled my boat at over 70mph on I-75 and hardly notice its back there.

Your 21 Scarab weighs close to 5000 when you add the trailer, gas (7 lbs / gallon) and weekend gear. Glad to see you're towing with no problem.
I have a '98 F-150 extended cab 5.4 that I was pulling my 26' Velocity Race Boat (575 hp 461) with and it had absolutely no problems. The 5000 lb tow weight on my Lightning is a carry over from the shortbed. It seems the 120" trucks only go to 5000 lbs even though they have the exact same running gear. Since the Lightning has F-250 ish running gear I'm not woried about towing my 6500 lb rig (full trailer brakes, dual axle, 350 lb tongue weight). The only difference will be the wheel base so I'll have a little more tendancy to sail at speed.
If the Hurricane doesn't wash out my weekend I'm going to go down to the marina, hook up the boat and drive it around a little to see how it feels.
