Question Racing Stripe(s)

Has anyone seen a striped Lightning? Was thinking that Ford blue racing stripes would look preety nice on my white '99.

Haven't seen a Lightning w/stripe(s), but did see an F-150 XLT Lariet, white w/blue rally stripes (this one was a style-side) and I really didn't care for it myself. Had to look twice to see it was a Ford, not a Dodge, almost targeted him for elimination before I realized he was one of the good-guys. I personally think the monochromatic treatment works really well on these trucks.

Just my .02 worth....

Photo Gallery / Owners Gallery / Page 53. Check it out. White STX w/Blue stripes. This truck belongs to Flats Man and although it is an STX, the body style is still the same.

When up in NH at their ford days, in the show
part of the event there was a white lightning
with blue stripes...made the thing look like one of them Dodge trash trucks...like wyldman
said the monochromatic looks real good, especially on the real fast color black....

Thats my Truck! Here in Tampa, FL I have received a lot of compliments on my little 98 STX. It depends on what your looking for. I have a friend that has a completly tricked out white STX Show Truck and it looks great. I am more performance oriented and therefore my truck looks different than the Show Truck. I just ordered a Fiero Air Foil for the deck lid and that will finish the exterior mods. All I have left on the performance end is a supercharger mod which will make it a lot quicker.

Very nice looking truck, Flats Man! After you add the puffer you may need to put some extra glue on those stripes, however.

And, 20.....chick, you've really got that photo thang down. Great job! Do you live over in Tampa also?

Thumbs up

That's IT! The striping looks great. Where did you get the spoiler? And do you have a picture of that?

Thanks for the compliment on my truck! I was supposed to go pick up the spoiler today but we are having a Hurricane named Harvey visit us and the weather is terrible. I got a deal on the spoiler. The shop charges $329.00 painted to match your truck and installs it. Since I have purchased almost all my mods from these guys, they gave it to me for $150.00 unpainted. I will take it to my paint shop and install it my self. When it is finished and stripped I will try to get you a picture of it. The contour of the spoiler perfectly matches the contour of the Astro Lid. I went to a Graphics shop and had the stripes put on and that ran around $250.00. Good luck with your Lightning!

Hello asdeman, Here goes on the spoiler wing. Until I picked it up I only knew it was called a Fiero Wing "and now for the rest of the story". I first saw it installed on a 98 STX show truck with the same deck lid as my truck ( Euro-lid II, by Astro). I could not find this wing in any of my many truck magazines and could not figure out why! When I asked the owner, he told me it was a Fiero Wing. I figured, cool , a new truck wing called the Fiero Wing! Here is the info you wanted and I got it off the instruction sheet for installing the wing. I don't know how it would look on a lid other than the Astro lid but it fits that lid perfectly. Go to: www.a-aspec.com, then select/factory wings/then/pontiac/then look at #2712 the 84-88 Fiero GT. Yep, the rest of the story! It belongs on a Pontiac Fiero GT! Can't find that in any truck magazines! It will be painted next week and I will install it the week after. It will be striped to match the deck later that week. I just installed a scanner so I will do a picture and run it under "other aftermarket" titled "Fiero Wing"? I hope all this helps and thanks for your interest.

Re wings:

A.R.E. will sell you a wing to mount on the back of their hard lid (may fit others too). I looked at it when I bought my tonneau (store manager had one on his F150) but decided to stay with the clean unadorned look.

Hi Steve,
I just mounted the "Fiero" Wing and I am very happy with the way it looks. I took some different angled pictures of it today and will try to put them up at this location either tonight or tomorrow! Lots of positive comments but I did have trouble when it came to putting the Blue Cobra Stripes on. My stripes are made of vinyl and allow for very little stretch. The geometry of this wing makes it impossible to stripe with graphics material. It can be striped with paint but that would be very tricky! I will leave my wing White with the Blue stripes running underneath. I think it still looks great and would definately do it again. Pictures to follow soon I hope.

FlatsMan, In my minds eye, the wing W/O the stripe is superior. Look foward to your photos.
