Angry Problems with brakes

While racing at the NMRA event this weekend I developed a problem with the brakes. This happened twice.Once I am staged and start to bring my RPMs up the truck would push the front tires across the line, not rolling but SLIDING, and I would see the Fkn RED LIGHT . As the announcer said the race was over before it started.

Any comments on the problem would be helpfull while we are checking the brake system.

Thanks

Hey AL

That happened to me before. Since then I added a Comp Cam Vacuum resevour and it has never happened to me again.

I would look into one

I did have to go to NAPA and buy a different check valve for it, but other than that it is awesome

are you running aftermarket cams if so you could be loosing vaccum and thats why your pushing your brakes. i use a vaccum can like that on one of my cars it really works. hope i wont need one on the truck. just installed stage 2 cams.

For what it's worth my Brakes aint worked for years, mine will do the same thing you described "when ever it wants" but be fine other times.
I tried the can also after Don mentioned it a year or so ago, but in my case it didn't help so I removed it. I have @ 20lbs of Vac on Idle so I dont need one.
It's basically pot luck everytime I start my L, sometimes it has brakes, and a lot of the times it dont. It's not Vac related in my case, not SC realted, not Engine related, not Disk related, bleeding related, bla bla bla, I believe it has something to do with the ABS system in my case

With the Factory Tech Total Domination Full Race Convertor I still leave from a dead idle, jump out the mf seat, and stomp that sob through the floor board, so it doesnt effect me at the light. BUT I have had prob's with the burnouts, sometimes I have to kind of try it and if I feel it pushing away, I have to stop and get another grip. Then stomp it hard enough that is has no choice, hehehehe

I can tell you one thing, YOU ARE NOT ALONE, I have talked and seen many people respond to my post over the years and it seems many have the same issue. In lots if not all cases it also seems to come and go

Are you guys talking about the same thing?

"the truck would push the front tires across the line, not rolling but SLIDING"

That doesn't sound like brakes that are too weak to me. Sounds like the front tires don't have enough grip to hold against the rears.

are you running skinny's up front?

A friend has skinny's up front and we took his '69 camaro on the street, he was coming up on traffic fast, hit the brakes and those little skinny tires were all over the place, scared the ***** out of me.

Don't feel bad. I've got $4,500 worth of brakes on my truck, and they still have never worked well.

Ding, Ding, Ding

We have a winner!

Same thing happens to me, during burnouts, sometime Al. Got a few videos where it happens. I bet there was "something" on the track. If it happened saturday, it probably water dripping from Rob a/c at the starting line. Figured he was running the a/c the way he was complaining about the heat

in the pic Vinnie posted, looks like a set of skinnies up front = less bite holding the truck back. (good pic by the way)

If you mean not well as the ABS blocking rapid breaking - #@%$# paranoid ABS module. As soon as the compound on my brakes gets a little warm and grippy, the ABS can't cope. I want to remove mine, I just fearthe loss of proportioning.
