Don Garlits Museum
My wife and I spent an enjoyable afternoon yesterday touring the Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing and the International Drag Racing Hall of Fame in Ocala, FL. It was also fun parking my black Lightning in the parking lot of such a prestigious shrine to drag racing and watching the people who were going to and from the museum stop and admire it.
Tons of famous drag racing cars are on display (over 150 counting the rods and the antiques!). Virtually all the big names in the sport are there. Almost every championship car I read about in Hot Rod magazine from the 50's to the 90's is represented. A majority of the non-dragster cars are Fords. The dragsters are mostly Chrysler Hemi powered, of course. However, all brands are represented well.
If you ever get the chance, stop by. You won't regret it. It's located off of I-75 at Exit 67, just a few miles south of Ocala.

P.S., Chuck:
There is a great looking black vinal over blue '71 Dodge Challanger 440 on display there. I thought of your similar car when I saw it.
