Thumbs down Bummin- Not going to make it to NMRA

I was all excited to race at NMRA down at Atco, but even though my truck is on it's way to Jersey I won't be racing.

My oil pump is started to fail yesterday afternoon. All off a sudden the oil pressure dropped, and the oil light went on. A few seconds later the guage popped back to normal. Then a few seconds later no oil pressure again.

Now it keeps loosing pressure for a few seconds, then will all off a sudden come back.

So it on Fomocofans trailer heading to JDM to get checked out. I hope it is just a bad sending unit, but sounds like my pump is starting to go.

THAT SUCKS DON
Did you hear any tapping ?

I was looking foward to hanging out, making fun of Vinnie's 60ft's, and heat soaking Gators truck enjoying the AC (when he wasn't looking of course)

Hope JDM works a miracle and You and the Beast some how show up ???
Also hope it's an easy fix and or maybe just the guage or sending unit.......

Well there is no tapping or any other weird noises. It has been running fine, I was just cruisin on the highway when all of a sudden the Oil Light came on, and the guage went to zero.

When I started it up this morning it had oil pressure, and sounded perfectlly normal, as I was pulling onto Jamies trailer the guage went to zero again.

The oil level is fine, but I noticed one little oil leak that was never there before, so who knows

You going by the factory guage or aftermarket? Factory is just a on/off switch. Hard to see how it would come and go, but there have been pump gear failures. It's a job to change, but not pull the motor atleast.

Well if it indeed a oil pump, I might as well pull the motor and have it freshened up. After all it has 3 years of hard racing on it.

I was thinking about a rebuild this winter, just looks like I will have to do it sooner.

I hope it will be done in time for FFW in New Hampster, if not I will just show up in the bronco and hang out.

If it's any consolation I have an 01 Lightning and an 01 expedition and I had to replace the sending units in both of them. I figured there was something wrong with them from the factory. The sending unit on the lightning is cake to change, but on the 4x4 expy I had to use every extention and universal I owned to get to it. You really should have tried the sending unit before loading it up on the trailer.
By the way do you have a stock pump or a billet pump in your truck? I am putting a built motor in next weekend and am debating which way to go.

Agreed. It would have been a real quick and cheap fix if it worked. If not, at least you have a new sensor.

I went to the test and tune at Atco today and the temp in my truck at the starting line was 99 deg.
The weather is to be hotter tomorrow and Sun.
