WBC O2 Sensor Replacement

Has anyone had to replace their Bosch LSU4 O2 Sensor yet?

Mine has been in use for about 13 months as a daily driver. The guage has been all over the place and will read 12:1 A/F at idle sometimes. It seems lazy not doing it's typical dance between 14.5 and 15 while cruising.

I wonder if Dynojet is the only game in town to get the right sensor with the right plug on the end. Dynojet's price is $99.85.

I called Dynojet and they said a year was the normal replacement time for a daily driver. Race fuel will shorten the life if used often. I've use 104 unleaded at least 10 times with it so I didn't come out bad at all.

I ordered the one from Dynojet because he said they put their own connector on the end. I didn't want to take a chance on having to rewire a connector just to save a few bucks. I'll pay $20 extra dollars to not have to deal with that.

Mine has been on for 16 months now. Daily driven, and I also have used 104 about 10-15 times. It doesn't seem to be acting any different yet. Did you tell Dynojet your symptoms, and was their response that you needed a new sensor? I have had some great customer service from Dynojet. Initially my WBC had no warning light, they upgraded my gauge for free. 2nd they just recently upgraded my commander with the 2nd analog input for free also.

Yes, I descibed the symtoms and he said it was the O2 sensor. Dealerjim had a bad sensor within the first two months with the same symtoms. They replaced his since it was so new. They do have great customer service.

I need to contact them about swapping out my guage for the warning light version. Mine was one of the very first batch.

Is it really a proprietary connector? If so, it's more like $60 extra. I use the LSU4.2 sensor with my LM-1 meter and the sensor is readily available from many sources and is OEM for VW, Audi, etc. Napa has it for $47, Innovate (LM-1 manufacturer) for $79, and 1stvwparts.com for $38. The part number for the one I use is 021-906-262-B (VW's number and this is also stamped on the sensor). It crosses over to BSA17014 with Napa.

I compared the sensor with one from a WBC (ShockTherapy's) and the connector is different although the wires entering the connector enter at the same pin locations and are the same color. Now, the sensor did have another number printed on it and I meant to cross check it to see if it matches something OEM with that connector. It would be worth the search if you could save $60 on sensors.

Exactly. That's what I was trying to find out but I didn't have anything to compare it to. The guy at Dynojet said it was their own connector but you know how that goes.

This needs to be found out because it's time for some of the early purchasers to replace their sensor (like me). I'll know more in a few days when I have the new one in hand.

I googled it to death and came up with some of the same info you have but nothing concrete about the connector.

Chuck, when you get your new one in do some searches using the part number on the sensor. That's what I was going to do. I wrote down the part number but couldn't find it in the shop and Shock has already put the sensor back in his truck. I guess it's possible Dynojet has a proprietary plug but I doubt it. I bet it's a sensor found OEM on something. And when you find that out, you'll likely find it at half or less of that price.
