Cruise control Switch

Just a call out to everyone not mentioned in the recall. You probably have the problem switch in your truck! Spend the 60 dollars that I did to have that piece replaced. It is well worth my peace of mind.(Dog sleeps in the house when I am gone and the truck is in the garage.) IF there is ever a recall, I have saved my reciept. If not, doberman is safe. You guys with families have more at risk.

My boss' house just burned to the ground while she was on vacation. Killed her cat and wiped out every single thing she owned.

Fire started in the garage, she drove a 2001 F150. Fire dept says they're near %100 that it started in the engine bay. Eventually, the gas tank exploded.

I have my switch undone and don't plan on replugging it until I get the new switch. I'll be putting it on myself.

My friends F150 burned to the ground also burning his garage to the ground two weeks ago. He not been in the truck for 7 days prior to it igniting. It is a faulty cruise control switch and he is sueing Ford for the damage.

I just went and bought the part from the dealer for $20 and screwed it right in. About a 5 minute job if you don't know what you are doing. Just don't be too slow once you get the old one out because the brake fluid will ooze out.

I contacted the dealer a few months ago concerning this switch in my 2002 and they quoted me $35-$40 installed. I decided to unplug the switch until I decide to take it in later this fall.

I have a 2003 and have heard conflicting information. I have read on some sites, that it has the defective switch and then read on other sites it is “not” defective.

However I seen a picture of a truck that was burned, caught on fire “supposedly” because of the switch and mine look exactly like it.

I have since unplugged mine since it’s always parked in the garage. Do these replacement switches look just like the ones on our trucks now? Or do they look different? I don’t trust asking the dealer or Ford because I just don’t feel I can trust them at this time.
