Dyno #s question
Dyno #s question
this weekend i went to Carlisle truck nationals. they have a dyno machine there, so i decided to give it a spin. i just installed new LT headers and i wanted to see what the gains were like. i dont know if it was thier dyno machine and the people running it... or if i just need a new tune cause of the headers, but i was very surprised to see how much HP i LOST! before i installed the headers, at the CJMF/JDM dyno day, my #'s were 417/515. on saturday they were 386/475!!! the truck was cooled down, so i know that wasnt an issue... i dont know what it could be, what do u guys think??
thanx

You can't really compare numbers from different dynos. Add in weather conditions etc and there's even more disparity.. Real results are at the track IMO.......JR
I just had my truck dyno tuned ant it made 400rwhp but performs like ***** at the track

What they said!!
Dyno's are for bench racer's, the proof is at the track! I only made 386 hp, with a 4#, tune and still turned a 12.76 @ 108. I've seen alot of 400 plus hp truck's only do the same #'s.
Best of Luck,
Bryan

Were they both the same model dyno, i.e. Dynojet? If so the numbers from one to another should be fairly close, but if one was something different like Superflow or Mustang Dyno they can vary a lot...
