Post Extended Alternative

I just picked up a copy of the October issue of Super Ford magazine. In it they have an article on Steeda's supercharged F-truck. It is billed as an extended cab alternative to the '99 Lightning. I looked at their website (www.steeda.com) and they have a lot of alternative parts and packages. The prices will make you appreciate the ~$8,000 up you paid for the factory development, fit/finish and warranty you got with the Lightning.

Cool

The Steeda is one nice truck, but in my mind (and I'm bias) the Roush F150 SC Stage 3 is the Lightning Limo. I soon will have the supercharger and be at the Stage 3. As for pricing it all depends. At completion I will have paid about 4 grand more for the Roush stage 3 than the 99 Lightning (I did do the Roush package after getting the truck). My truck has a full warranty for all Roush parts through the Ford/Roush dealerships. I wish I could win the lottery so I could build up a Roush Stage 3 F150 regular cab for a test against the Lightning.

Hi Mumbly,

Run what you brung, I always say. I'll run my Lightning and spot you 1 sec. on the tree, that Rousch package ought to make up for some of the weight difference. We can go before and after your SC install, kind of a baseline for comparison (I get the second back after the SC install, of course). Let me know if you're interested.

Wyldman,

Sure I'll try anything. You will have to give me some pointers on the drag strip though, never raced on one. Hopefully some day I can make it down your way and go to the track.

Does the Roush kit beef up the stock F150 brakes or the stock f150 tranny?

Also, do you happen to know which model Vortec blower is included in the Stage 3 kit?

Thanks,

Mike

F150SVT,

The Roush kit does have a beef up of the f150 stock brakes as an option. As for the Tranny I have not heard of one. The Supercharger is dependent on the Roush Reps in the Area. I know of the S-trim in a Roush truck in Cal. I'm still not sure on what brand of supercharger I'm going to go with (Always looking for input??).
