Post Will the 99.5 Lightning soon be obsolete?

I am a new member, but I have been watching you all talk for some time now. There is an issue that I don't think anyone has touch on. Now that we all know that the 2000 model is coming soon, (set foe Dec. 2000) will the value of the 99.5 Lightning be greatly depreciated? And those that get the 2000 Lightning, if you don't already know, plans for the 2001.5 have been made. Just something for all of us to think about. Please let me know what you all think...

Well, at least this is nothing new. Happens to every new model car, truck, van, tractor, etc. Eventually, they all become obsolete to one degree or another. (Computers are the best example, of course.) All you can do is buy it when you can, take care of it and enjoy owning it.

By the way, noticed from your signature that you own a Syclone and a Typhoon. Cool! I owned Sy #2424 for 6 years. Fun trucks.

What's the upgrade for 2000 models, sliding tinted back glass (got it), matched mirrors (black, got it), cd changer (6disc, got it), now if it has more hp, i'd be po'ed.

MRBBQMAN: I heard from the guys at the SVT trailer (Detroit Gran Prix) that the 00 is also supposed to have an overhead - similar to the Explorer. I think owning the first release of Gen. II is well worth it as long as they don't up the HP significantly or make major changes any time soon (if they do it should be a Gen. III). Later - Chuck

Anyone think that the overhead console can be easily retrofitted into a '99? Thats the one thing I wanted.

side note: I found it interesting that the Down Ford homepage had the SuperChip listed as an accessory you could purchase from them. Would that mean they wouldn't void your warranty?

TIA...

I know this is an old thread , but my point was that even in the beginning(the VERY beginning) L owners have been worried about being obsolete. Kinda like now.
