I made 5 runs yesterday, the best was 14.008@97.67mph. The fastest was 97.83mph. I did not remove the spare, and I have a Rhino-liner. I weigh 198 lbs and also had a full tank of gas (92 octane).

Blacklight,
Damned good! Next time go with a 1/4 tank of gas max and a spare 5 gallon can of gas if you have someone to watch it for you. That's over 100 lbs saved right there.
You'll make 13s!

Just did the Texas Truck Shootout at Houston Raceway Park and came away with 13.834 and 99.64 mph as quickets time and 99.83as quickest speed on a 13.851 run. All on stock tires, Superchip, 104 fuel. Quickest Lightning of the day. Also had a .501 reaction time which was the quickest of the day, not bad for a 52 year old man.... Looking for quicker times with DOT slicks and air filter mods. "This is fun"....

MAN!!! I live in Baytown, very close to HRP and passed by on my way to help my dad do some work on his house. I had no idea there was any thing going on out there, other than the normal Saturday event. I saw all the Lightnings and wanted to blow off my plans ... but I couldn't do that.
WISH I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE!!!!!!!!

If you don't have a superchip, put your transmission lever in 3rd, Popular mechanics claims this is the fastest position.

OK, the day went like this :
14.089 @ 97.45 launch at idle, tailgate up.
14.078 @ 97.48 launch at idle, tailgate up.
14.235 @ 97.65 launch at 1100, tailgate down.
14.238 @ 97.83 launch at 1200, tailgate down.
14.008 @ 97.67 launch at 900, tailgate down.
On both the slow runs I had some wheelspin for the first 10-15 feet. My best reaction time (on a silly Pro-tree) was .805 with the worst 1.577
I now need a Superchip...
The best run of the day was a '65 Corvette (doors opened, lights and indicators worked), 8.07 @ 179.89 mph !!! He had a parachute and a huge trailer as well as a pit crew of 4 people.

SVT54SC,
Did you see the Black Lightning (the only one there, all others were red) over by the staging lanes? That is mine and I was wondering if you were going to show up. Sorry you couldn't make it, it was a definite hoot we had a great time meeting some of the other owners and getting the word out about this site and NLOC. Give me a shout the next time you want to go to the track and I'll meet you out there, need more prcatice cutting lights and figuring out the "perfect" hole shot.

Yea its me... I had a great time also. My wife has a spinal cord injury and is in a lot of pain. I did not see any since in staying any longer than needed so we went home. I lost my first race by blowing off the rear tires not only in first but second also and lost by .640 seconds to a 16.00 chevy truck
I will call you when we go again. I am getting a set of wheels and slicks for the next run, plus a cone filter.
See ya soon....

Hey Blacklight,
Great times, congrats!! You're right, now all you need is the Superchip.
(Hey, what did you *expect* me to say?)
Looks like you had a great time, and some great results, too. Good for you! All you guys with these Lightnings are making me so jealous I can't stand it!! It's not going to take too much more to make me bolt a blower on my Mark 8, like I've been threatening to do for far too long. Of course, that will require a new transmission, and then there's the.........
I guess I'm going to be jealous for awhile!

Hey Mike, Sal here. You mentioned putting a blower on your Mark 8. I just wanted to let you know that a few months back I did a custom Vortech S-trim install on a 98 Mark 8. There was a ton to modify, so if you ever decide to do this, give me a shout and I'll be happy to discuss it with you. I can save you *alot* of headaches about what is needed to be done to fit it on the Mark.

I took my first trip ever down the 1/4 mile last night at New England Dragway in Epping, NH. The temp was cool, in the high 60's, so I thought I might get some good times. This weekend happens to be Fun Ford Weekend up there and with a chance of a total washout this weekend, the place was mobbed. I was only able to get 2 runs in the 2 1/2 hours I was there.
My truck is Superchiped (thanks Mike) and I had a half a tank of gas, that's it. Here's what I did.
60' - 2.006
330' - 5.705
1/8 - 8.738 @ 81.43
1000' - 11.355
1/4 - 13.586 @ 100.79
How did I do?
My buddy said I should quit while I'm ahead. My second run was slower because of excess wheel spin. Still not too bad with a 13.675 @ 100.58.
Sal, I will get an order out this week for one of your cone filter kits and try again, though I don't think I'll be able to wait.
