Any particular hex bit for KB pulley swap?

Going to turn up the boost a bit by swapping my 3 1/2" with a 3 1/4".

I've done some reading and found on here that the bolt is standard thread - 14mm. KB's site says 10mm. Can anyone give me a straight answer?

Also, I was planning to pick up the hex bit at Sears. Does anyone use Crafstman for this? Will I be ok with that? I don't want to strip the darn thing.

Any info is always appreciated!!

Dan

You need a 10MM allen socket. Also need a KB pulley tool to stop the blower from turning over while trying to loosen the bolt. -Mat-

EDIT: I have used both a Craftsman and a Snap-On allen socket before. No issues with either.

Only thing I found a problem was it needs to be a fairly long allen due to the KB tool. I think I'm actually using a "Husky" from Home Depot.

Thanks guys. I have the removal tool, just not the socket. I'll head over to Sears at lunch and see what they have.

Sears around here didn't have one that would work with the KB tool, not long enough. Bought a 10mm socket and a 10mm Allen Key, made my own.

I stopped by Home Dopey at lunch and picked a Husky up. It was in a mixed pack of 6 (4mm - 10mm). Does yours protrude about an inch from the socket? I left the pulley tool at home and I really can't visualize whether this one will be long enough...

Thanks again..

Well..answered my own questions by swapping the pullies. Thanks again for the info, guys. Took about 5 minutes to do the swap.

Now it's time to wait for rush hour to end and go romp it and see how much more boost, if any, it's pushing. Tough to tell around here lately it's been so friggin' Africa hot.

See ya'
