How come Chevy can do it ???

Wrrnty aftermarket parts that is ???

A friend and customer of mine just stopped in, Pulled up in a brand new Avalanche. Avalanche SS ???

So he walks in and I say, hey Jerry what the hell is that, Chevy doesn't make a SS Avalanche do they ??? he said no but the dealer will build you one, and it maintains the full factory WRRNTY.

So me and another motor head here (Jim) are like ok, so what exaclty did they do other than re-badge it ??? He was like, I'm not sure but they said they installed some kind of Supercharger on it. I'm like WOW ok, can I go look at it, he was like ya sure but it's no big deal, amof it's slow as schitt and I am very unhappy with it. So I ask him what boost he's running and of course he had no clue what that was, also had no Boost guage, or intercooler I saw for that matter ???

I go check it out and dont you know those Mo Fo's set the thing up pretty dam impressive. They Lowered it on all 4's, did a full exhaust into a nice Cat back and HUGE tips, Diff and new Tires and Rims, Fiberglass Cowl Hood bla bla bla. I ask him to open the hood and the SOB got a Rear Entry Magna Charger on it, Cool Air Induction, what seemed like an aftermarket TB, and some other goodies. Sounds dam good too.

Personally I'm not in love with that Vehicle, and either is he as far as power goes, amof he bought it, was extremely disoppinted in the lack of power, spend god knows how many multi k's for all these upgrades and he says it still cant get out of it's own way. It did have a 3.5 Upper which I thought was a bit big, (of course I already talked him into changing the pulleys) hehehe.
But the impressive part is that it maintains the entire and full factory wrrnty.
Just a little FYI.....

The friend of mine who got me into Lightnings just sold his and bought a new Ford truck. They installed a blower at the Ford dealer and it retains the full warranty.

Ford will only warranty what they install. Roush warranties what they put on. You can get S/C's installed at a Ford Dealer and get a full Warranty on it. All of the above only appliies as long as you make no mods that add more power and contribute to anything that might go wrong with what they did.

My F150 is lowered, has big tires, a custom exhaust, and a supercharger. And it's warrantied for 36K/3 yrs. It's a called a "Lightning."

hehehehe @ Tim

WOW I guess it's not that uncommon after reading the replys ?
SORRY ALL, NEVER MIND, I always get soooo excited about stuff
hehehehe....

I know McCarville Ford (where I orig bought my 96 Cobra) offered me a Performance upgrade at the time. Gears, Shifter, Exhaust, and Filter, it was very reasonable at the time too, 1800.00 if I remember correctly, but I thought that was all over with these days ?? guess not.

What a shame though, I feel bad for him, he's very very disappointed in the performance, he told me he already went back and told them it's still way too slow and is there anything else they can do, they said "nope thats about it".
And this is coming from a guy many years older than me that just wanted a nice work truck with a little power, nothing crazy, no racing, he's not a hot rodder, he was just looking for a little power in his new work truck.

What I'm wondering is does it even have a chip or retuning ?
I didn't see any intercooler lines ?
and without a guage, who the hell knows how much boost it even has ?
I checked the lower pulley and it was very small, Def no where near the size of our 4lb lowers, and as said a big *** 3.5 up top.
One belt operating the entire vehicle, I told him I can get him a smaller pulley for the top, and a new belt and he got all excited, who knows maybe I'll help him out and see if I cant void his wrrnty,

So Leann did Gator have any idea when these two plan on battling it out?? Hopefully at SSOTN.
Rob,
Has Denny hooked you up with the 300 shot yet?? Apparently Gator's been burning the midnight oil on overtime to buy even more power!
Just stirring the pot!

One thing I can say for Chevy is they are making supercharged horsepower numbers with naturally aspirated engines in vettes, and they're not mountain motors either. Imagine if they factory supercharged the ZO-6, or even the standard vette motor. When Chevy wants to, they can put up some respectable numbers.
