Dealer Service...
Anybody out there that can recommend a great service department in the S.E. Michigan area. The one I bought mine from will never get my business again after what I've gone through with my trans. problem! When the work is completed on it I'll let you guys know about it...
Just want to compliment everyone on all of the posts and very imformative info!!!!

PFA,
Where are you in SE Michigan?
I am in the Canton area. I have seen a couple of Lightnings around here. One is the red one that initially caught my eye, and made me get my own.
I have had mine in to Blackwell Ford in Plymouth for an engine sensor problem. I have been satisfied with their work in the past on other vehicles, but have never had a vehicle there for anything major like trans work.
I have also used Varsity in Ann Arbor. They did good work, but tended to keep my vehicles overnight if I brought them in for multiple repairs at once.

I also use Blackwell Ford - not because I bought my L there but because my neighbor is the service mfg.. I know it's treated with TLC and I have special line of communication. Also, he trades me vehicles so I don't have the hassle of any waiting. Good luck either way!!

Hey Gordon,
Could you tell me what your engine sensor prob. was like? Was the engine missing? I have a miss in my truck around 40-50 mph and my service tech. insists that it is just the huge torque converter that I am feeling. I really don't think that is the case because it will miss even if I manually hold the truck in second gear.

TopCat,
Tim D. mentioned he had a neighbor with a Lightning. I just met Tim last week, and he's a great guy. Tell him I'm giving him some good press, so he'd better keep it up!

Collin,
The "Service Engine Soon" light came on, and the truck seemed to fall back to a conservative EEC program. There was a slight, but noticable power loss and I lost a pound or two of boost.
I think the "miss" you feel around 40 mph is the torque converter. I have the same thing, and I have seen other posts reporting this problem as well.

BadDog,
I'm not far from you, just down the road in Belleville. By the way, I bought and had serviced at Fairlane Ford. Great salesman but bad service dept.

BadDog & PFA: We ought to get together to show these beauties off!! Belleville, Canton, & Livonia - not that far apart.
BadDog: Yes, Tim's a pretty unique person - doesn't BS you - always has some tidbit of information that isn't available to the majority. I've known him for 10+ years - my daughter-in-law grew up across the street from him. Seems he's always working on some good looking car - you never know what you're going to see when you drive by his house.
PFA: Do you know Bill Wolters @ Stoney Creek Motorsports in Belleville?
Later - Chuck

Topcat14,
Can't say I do, never been there. Maby the three of us can get together sometime and head down to the track (Milan Dragway) and get some good comparison runs.

PFA & BadDog: Sounds like a plan. Unfortunately, I need as much notice as possible since my boss has the majority of August off (or so it seems). Maybe September - cooler weather? There I go again - getting my priorities all wrong - let's continue to communicate and set something up. I'm in the phone book if you want to contact me directly.
PFA - Stoney Creek Motorsports is on Huron River Dr. just west of town. He sells go-karts (I raced for him for several years), fun karts, and does extensive 2-cycle engine work.
Gotta go - the troops are howling here at work. Later - Chuck

Wow, more michigan people!!!
I just posted yesterday in getogethers about a South michigan meet!
I'm in Ann Arbor, I got my F150 about 1 month ago at Briarwood Ford, so far, everything seems good. Can't recommend them just yet, although I did take my explorer there and the work was fast!
When do we go out cruisin'!??!??!?

I would have to say that a meet in September at Milan would be nice, as long as I get my truck on its promised date. I live about 20 minutes from Milan, and am game for whatever dates you guys come up with.

I think a visit to Milan would be in order.
They have test sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays.
There is another Lightning in my neighborhood, and I think he would come along as well. We could have us a fine ole time
