Adding a few extra Lbs in the bed?
im considering adding some weight to the bed to help the tires hook-up, but im wondering if its worth the extra weight. is there a happy medium here?

here's a thought.
If you're thinking more weight over the rear tires will give you more traction I might have an alternative.
I used strange engineering Racing shocks. They are 10 way adjustable and can be bought brand new for about 130/pair!
Why will these make a difference?
Well unlike regular shocks that extend by pressure and compress hard. Racing shocks are the opposite. When you adjust them (turn a dial) they will compress easily, yet not extend easily at all. So when you floor it off the line and the rear squats a little, it will stay squatted. With regular shocks it will squat a little and then pop back up shifting the balancing point of the truck forward and the weight of the truck forward. (kinda hard to explain).
For normal driving they work great, just turn the dial and be done with them.
While they are made for a mustang, many will argue that they aren't valved for the exxtra weight of a lightning. I call BS, becuase these ride beter than the stock shocks I had on there ('99 lightning didn't have Bilsteins). Plus they are made by strange engineering so you know they can handle the abuse.
Only thing is that the rear of your lightning has to be lowered. which isn't a big deal since most people install lowering shackles on the rear of their truck.
Here's the info:

i'd do that..... if it were snowing. your happy medium is keeping the spare tire on or just learning how to launch. every hundred lbs will slow you down appros one tenth in the quarter. try pulling your front sway bar.

Are you using the S6001LM or S6000EM rear shocks?

Well im lowered 4" in the rear by roush and shackles, and it seems my rear shocks are about shot. I'm wondering if the strange shocks would be of use to me? L-menace, what kind of 60fts do you put down? stock converter? I was just going to get rear Qa1's eventually, but if these are cheaper and work almost as well, i might have to give them a shot. Well laterr
