Question tach problem

i'm having a hard time finding the right answer to my question and was hoping someone on this page could be of help. i have a 99 lightning and wanted to install a 5 inch tach on the dashboard. installation went well expect for finding the positive tach wire. i asked the dealer and they were clueless as to what i should do. i looked through a 99 service manual since they wouldn't help me and couldn't find the tach input. i tried all the wires that run into the dashboard console and none of those work either. is there anyone out there that can help me? thanks a lot.

are all the wires in the computer harness identified in your manual?

if you are referring to the wires that are both in the dashboard and in the pcm, neither of them state anything to do with a tach. however, another pcm wire may be supplying the tach, but i don't know what to look for.

cpptommy,

On my EECIV cars the the electric tach originates at the coil. On this OBDII with coil on plug ignition does this thread indicate it comes from the PCM?

i checked the 99 manual wiring manual from the first page to the last. it definately isn't listed as tach signal feed. it must be under something else. or maybe i didn't understand your response. i'm just getting a little frustrated that my svt mechanic doesn't know his product that well. thanks for that post.
