MAF Sensor Cleaning?
Old age must be catching up to me cuz I can't remember what to use or how to clean the MAF sensor.
If any of you have perfected this task please post up and help a Lightning Brother out!
PS, my truck is back up and running and I now have 200 miles on it. I'm gonna put 1.5K on it before I start hitting WOT runs.
I thank God for all of you who have helped me out with my truck both with tech info and financial aid!
wydopnthrtl (Rich) will be coming over this Saturday to do some data logging for me. Eric at Billet Speed Performance will be doing my tuning.
God Bless,
Suavy

I really wouldn't suggest touching the elements with anything. I would use some contact cleaner, or in a pinch some brake clean (NOT carb cleaner) and then a quick dry with a gentle shot of compressed air.
Sal is right.. I just take stuff like this for granted and assume everyone knows to not touch the elements. Good point Sal..!!
I've used electrical contact cleaner for years on many different cars and never had a problem. Just gently spray them down and let it air dry. I should add to *not* poke the straw in there either.

I use "CRC QD Electronic Cleaner" - quick drying formua. Quick drying and claims it leaves no residue. I try and stay away from touching the little wires - it's just real easy to hang one up.
I stuck my hand in the end of the MAF housing the other day checking the inside lip of a C&L elbow when installing an airbox that caused it all to fit very tight together. Anyway, I was in a hurry as usual and jammed a finger against the MAF tube. I'm not sure if I hit the housing or the wire but I know I had filter oil on my fingers from the new filter. Afterwards, I am getting some surging at idle (with low 14:1 up to low 15:1's) now and it was steady 14.5-14.8:1 at idle and low takeoff. I had some of that CRC QD Electronic Cleaner and sprayed a good stream of it all over the tube and wire without removing it and then shot some air up the tube to help it dry. Nothing overpowering but it didn't fix it. I don't know if I screwed up the MAF wire or the new filter (read as CLEAN) is letting in more air.
