When I bought my truck, there wasn't an aftermarket blower like the KB. When I would buy one part, 6 month's later a better part would come out and the common understanding of what a stock truck could take would change right along with it. If I bought a virgin truck right now, and had to start over, I'd go with the KB, or wait on the Whipple. Screw taking baby steps. Get the big dog straight out of the gate.

If I had it to do all over again, I would

1) FTVB
2) KB and tune
3) JDM silver bullet cat back
4) JLP forced air induction kit
5) 2" drop shackles

In that order...

I have a stock block running a kennebell with a 4 lb lower making 11-12 lbs boost ,60 lb injectors,2400 MAF,255 LB FUEL PUMPS,and so on very happy with it 440hp 515tq very safe tune...Built motor soon coming cant wait...So i would say Kennebell is the best bang for the buck period.
Best Regards Bob

I made it into the 12's with the time in my sig. Mods at that time #4 lower, tune, FTVB, and slicks. Cost:$700 and borrowed the slicks from my buddy.

Now, if you are going to spend the money get a KB anyways.

Get the K-B first. You can always get the other items later. If you go the other route, you'll just be wishing you got the K-B to begin with and got it over with.

Some how KB and the above statement don't go together if you ask me on a stock block. Yeah, sure it works for some, but you could easily be the unlucky one.
Option 2 would be your SAFER path for longevity.

As a college student, I can afford to blow my engine. While I would like to get the KB/Whipple I have to look at it like this:

How is the KB going to be better then the eaton? Maybe a second faster, at best, if Im lucky. That and the fact that I can brag about having a KB on my engine. But besides being at the quater-mile track, it wont help me out with everyday life. Instead Ill just get the eaton ported, slap a full exhuast on and get a sweet hood. My truck will be a little bit more powerful, and just as reliable. Maybe when I graduate and get a steady income with a second vehicle Ill get a new engine and blower.

Get the KB; all that little stuff trying to make 4~425HP or more will cost you more in the long run.

You could have an easy 425~450HP with stock exhaust and stock air box/throttle body everything.

knowing what i know now, i would go with a turbo from the start. upgradeable, more power at the same boost levels, that would be a good way to get the most you can from the stock block i think. there are a few options out there, but none are cheap, unless you can do some fabrication on your own.
