2.7 pulley.

I am going to put a 2.7 pulley in the blower from searching I read the I need to break the tab in the tensioner to prevent belt slip, can somebody tell me where is this located, is it difficult to break the tab. Im also putting a new gatorback belt.

You won't have to break the tab. That's only required when you go to a bigger pulley. For future reference the tab is on the tensioner itself. If you look closely you'll see it.

What do you mean by saying that the blower is a 2.9? also Im worried if I put a 2.7 I will have belt slip, anyone that has a 2.7 can tell me what is the deal with this pulley?

The stock Eaton pulley is 2.93 inches. When you go to a smaller Eaton pulley there will be less contact between the belt and the Eaton pulley. Less contact equals belt slip.

but you are decreasing the contact area on the upper pulley.

the proper length belt is required, not optional, and shouldn't be thought of as a mod to help with belt slip.

I have had a 2.69 upper for 3 years now and no belt slip detected...even before the recent addition of a Metco (100mm) Idler kit (mainly for bling)!

smaller pulley=less surface area the belt has to wrap around. you can do the smaller upper, but i would go with a larger lower pulley. it is not that hard to change.

the net effect of a larger lower pulley or a smaller upper would be the same boost wise. you can get a quick change model that is a 2-piece pulley. it has a hub which mounts to the balancer, and an interchangeable outer ring. that is what i have a have an 8 lb. ring on it to drive around and to drag race, and a 4 lb. ring for open track events.

Thanks SVTLover! No problem with belt slip here. However, I don't drag race either (mostly just "show"). The Metco Idler kit should help eliminate "slip" anyway...Plus, it looks COOL!

Very few have gone with the smaller belt. The shorter belt by 3/4" will add a little tension to the belt. Breaking off the limiter is just for safety. I have use the shorter Gatorback for over 3 years with a 2.7 upper and it works great.

Some prefer to do the lower pulley and that's fine too.

Its up to you but if you ask for opinions you will get many.
