Rebuild kit. Crank needed ? ?

Well i have an 03 L short block in my garage and i would like to build it up for my Lightning. When i rebuild it, do i really need to change the crank? Why buy a rebuild kit for $1600 w/crank when i could just get one for $800 w/out crank? Any info would be great. Thanks

Im pretty sure its a forged crank from 00 up. Just throw in some forged pistons and rods, get it balanced and you should be good to go, but i think its still going to cost you more than $800 .

Have the stock crank shot peened and it will handle more than you can throw at it with a Lightning.

What kit is this and where are you getting it from? Does it include an oil pump, ARP studs, berings and gaskets? What kind of rods and pistons?
