Unhappy Damned Predator!

I just had 4.10:1 gears installed. I returned the computer to stock, so they could change the stock computer program for the new gears. When I went back to reinstall the Custom program from the Predator, there is no Custom program! It seems to have reset back to the performance program that comes with the unit. I had some PC problems a while back and ended up losing the program from my files; so, I can't just reload the Custom program to the Predator. It took 2 weeks to have the program emailed to me the first time. Now it's RACE SEASON! My tuner is going to be even busier than he was back then. This sucks! I should have stuck with a chip. After using a Hypertech unit on my last vehicle, I expected a lot more from the Predator as far as idiot proof directions and operating features. This thing is a pain in the ***.

I'm sure that if you use it a lot, you figure things out on your own; but, for the guy that installs his tune, and then puts it on the shelf for 6 months before he needs it again, it's a real PITA!

Enough ranting. I feel a little better. Since I need an SCT MAF anyway, I'll just order an SCT chip to go with it. As I should have in the first place.

Man, I waste a lot of money on crap I don't need sometimes!

predator faulted and cleared my comp of everything once. I had to call diablo and get the code to force the program back on the comp.

I have since bought an xcal 2.

diablo =

Roger, it sounds like you did a restore original backup. What that does is reset the tool. What you needed to do was select factory tune from the load tune list.

As soon as the file was gone, I knew it was my fault, Sal. There are just too many screens and choices on the Predator. Too many opportunities to ruin your day. My order is already in for the Xcal, SCT MAF, and another one of your sweet tunes.

I know what you mean. I use the predator a lot, so I guess I'm used to it. There are few people in my area that bring the predator to me to load their custom tunes. I've toyed with a Xcal2, it definitely looks simpler. Me personally I didn't like it just to simple, I guess I like more things to mess with. The only benefit looks to be multiple tunes, and that's a feature I don't need. It only takes a second to load my race tune for the track. There have been many instances where I just plug the predator in to look at the data log screen. It looks like it would be difficult to do with the Xcal. The screen just doesn't have the size for it.
