Question Another rookie that needs help

hey guys im new to this whole deal. i traded my 02 dodge quadcab a couple weeks ago. i picked up a black 2000 bolt with 25,000 on it. this thing is just prime for bolt-on fun. but im not quite sure where to start. looking for the most bang for my buck. ive got a few extra shillings layin around though i wanna try to get it into the 400hp/500tq range for under 2000 if i can. but i still gotta drive it 35 miles back and forth to work everyday (until winter).

You can get that easily for under a grand. Chip, filter, and pulley!

Ditto, Chip ($400) +#4pulley ($200) + filter ($100) = very near 400/500 might want to think of a FTVB, also! There are many more bolt ons that add but these are the basic.

Have to agree with this here.
I had a JDM tuned chip, 4lb lower pulley and air filter setup for quite some time on my truck. Ran STRONG. www.teamjdm.com With a converter and some Nitto drag radials I was able to go 12.52 and this was over 2 years ago. With the tuning changes you should do even better. Goodluck with the truck. -Mat-

What intake should i go with

alrighty then i just came back from a test run after t tuned my stock 00' bolt for 93 octain. seems to have a little more pep in its step. so now that i can install some toys im lookin for an intake and a 2lb lower thats not one of those quickchange deals. i like the looks of the volant and the price isnt bad, but how is for performance? i kinda wanna get a 4lb but sisne the stock eaton is supposed to huff 8lb total (but i think we all know its a little closer to 10ish) and ive read that the eaton is operating at like 90% stock, so puttin a 4lber on there is runnin it at 150%. and the fact that i put huge amounts of mileage on it ( round 80-100 a day!!) i dont wanna be push it.
need more advise from all you Lightning yodas.

don't get a 2lb, get the 4lb. i would suggest the fastair from PSP or jlp intake over the voltant.

i had a ported eaton, 4lb, chip, exhaust, valve body and I put like 16K on my truck in less than a year after those mods with no issues. the most important part is your tuning. you have to find who you like, i am a PSP cheerleader

make certain that intercooler has been changed!

Check the intercooler fluid level weekly. 99-00 are prone to leak and replacment kits are vERY hard to come by.
