Supercharger cleaning questions

Does anyone have a how-to on (Eaton) supercharger removal/reinstall (looking for torque specs on the bolts, whether or not i'll need any new gaskets, problem areas people have had....)? I want to clean my s/c once my truck arrives and dont want any surprises when it all goes back together. If doing this is pretty much idiot-proof, please say so...

Thanks,

Steve

STEVE, you can do it

Most have reused the gaskets and bolts, I have done so myself without problems. Some recommend that you do, but you'll have to spend extra $$$$.

Try a SEARCH, you will see TONS of HOW-TOs:

Problem areas?? Area most people have diificulty is when you are lifting out the intercooler: 2 rear bolts are long and will snag the firewall. Let the bolts stay in the manifold, GET AN EXTRA SET OF HANDS and tilt the i/c so the rear bolts will clear the firewall.

MAKE SURE all the lines and hoses are reconnected.....this the area that you do not want to mess up (take pictures and label every connector, hose, wire you remove if that will help you remember)

WARNING: unless you plan to do so, Brake or carb cleaner will strip your rotors!

Guy @ NLOC had very god results using CASTROL SUPERCLEAN: http://www.nloc.net/forum/showthread...hreadid=100254

Have some extra coolant ready: you'll need some to replensih what you will loose when you empty the i/c before you clean it.

Good luck!

you are welcome.
Not sure if your truck already has an oil sep (or other device), but good idea to get one (help minimize the oil blow-by problem)

Krom -

I think I'll be ordering one of the separators here soon...the more I read, the more I think it might be a good preventive measure.

I've visited Andre's site before, and have plans to meet up and join them for their next run (maybe we can go to Prague and get some cool pics....if not, I'll go with my beautiful wife!)

Thanx again for the tips!

Steve
