Steering Box Leaking

When I was putting the new tires on I noticed my steering box was all wet, also I am down to the min on the resevoir. Took it in today and they said a whole new box may be needed.

This is my third f150 and I haven't had any problems like this before. Is it common? Also if they do have to replace the box isn't the L a different ratio than the regular F150? BTW it's a non SVT dealer, good service dept, but I always like to have the facts. Thanks.

I have also heard that the 03 and up box is better with a quicker ratio than previous. Be sure that you get an 03 or newer, or you may feel the difference.

My power steering pump was replaced under warranty, at ~15,000 miles.
