Stereo finally finished
Well this started out for my 00 Silver Lightning back in 2002 some time! I ended up selling the truck and put the project on hold. The stereo shop I was working with kept with me as I had paid in full for the amps, subs, and box back in 2002. I told them I would buy everything but I needed some time to figure out what I want to do with the stuff. As it turned out my wife suggested getting another Lightning as she missed it and it’s always nice having a truck around. So the deal was get an every day car first (It had to run good, and have AC, those were the two conditions as my family has a summer place that is a 250 mile drive) then we could get the L and garage it. I hooked up with the stereo place last year and got the box covered but never finished… last week however they finished up the box and now everything is in and complete.
It’s nothing spectacular but I wanted something that you could not see when the truck was parked and put more money into the Deck, Subs, Amps, and Speakers, then the box.
Specifics…
Head unit is an Eclipse 5605 6-disk in dash changer (originally purchased for my 95 White Lightning, glad I did as they don’t make it any more, and it looks pretty low key so does not attract a lot of attention when it’s off)
MB Quart 6 ½ Mids with 1 inch Tweeter mounts in the door.
Memphis Studio MC-3004 4 Channel Amp for the Highs
Memphis Studio MC-1500D 2 Channel Amp for the Subs
Memphis HPO 104 Subs

First off I like the black carpet, I think the setup looks great, a nice simple system with well chosen components, a clean install a one of the best carpeted boxes I've seen. Nice job.

GREAT choice on the Memphis. Let me know how the HPOs are, I've been running Studios for about 5 years now and have thought about swapping them out. I've got a M class 150x2 and the old 1100x1 D class.

ccattie - I can't put the seat all the way back. I can get it close but not all the way. I am 6 foot 1 and fit in the truck just fine. If I were to do it all over again I would make sure it was built around the seat. Given the time I took to get the box finished and how patient the stereo shop was with me I am very happy with it.
zbornac - I have to give you all the props as it was your stereo setup that inspired me. The first time I saw your vinyl covered system back in early 01 I knew I wanted a similar setup. Not so much the Memphis stuff at the time, more so the setup of the boxes. After working with the stereo shop they told me how powerful the Memphis stuff was, yet it was very small and fit well in a truck. I am very pleased with the whole setup except for the subs. I mean they hit but I want more (doesn’t everyone?) I might be wishing for something that will never happen as I had two 12 inch Eclipse in my 93 Cobra that really hit! I still have the subs in my attic and some day I might hook them up to the Memphis amp just to see how loud they are compared to the HPO 10's. I think I will keep my eye's open for some better subs, but I have the room issue. Who knows?
Here's a pic of my 93 Cobra setup... Just not going to get this kind of system in the back of a truck if you don't want it to be seen....
