Solid back glass

I am wanting to switch my sliding back glass for a solid one. Are all the 97-04 back windows the same? I want to find a used one and then use the new style gasket thats bigger and better that the pre 02 models have. Also would Ford be the best place to get this put in at, or can any glass place do it? Thanks!

I figure they would be the same window, i can't see why the Lightning's back glass would be any different than all the other F-150's of our body styles. I changed out a solid back glass for a slider in a Z-71 I had in 98. I had a place called Guardian Glass do it, they did a great job it never had any leaks. I wouldn't let just anybody do it, go with a shop that specializes in glass work or a Ford dealer.

I swapped out my glass for a solid back window. It was easy.

Did you use the stock Lightning trim or did you use the one from the solid back glass?

Anybody try it with the new upgrade trim kit for the L? Is the opening for the window in a stock 99-04 F-150 the same size as the slider opening in the L?

Thanks

When I did my back window I purchased it from fordpartsonline.com. I believe the trim with the updated seal is $127.55.

I just did the swap . I took my Dad's 2002 F-150 back glass out of his truck to install in my 2002. I bought the new seal kit from my local Ford dealer for my L.

I put my sliding back glass in my Dad's truck, it had a tight seal between the glass and the trim.

There is a gap about 1/4 inch maybe more or less between the solid back glass and the new trim seal kit plastic on my L. Is this normal, because the solid back glass doesn't have trim molding around it like the slider does? Anybody notice this?

Thanks.

I did it for the Stereo Satisfaction subwoofer rattle factor rating. No more rattling back window when I crank the tunes up..
