I need some new exhaust...who has the best deal?

I need a new CB and maybe some Hight Flow Cats. What is the best setup? I've got a noisy cat that has to go and today I ran with a WS6 on the free way that sounded sooooooo freaking bad a$$!!! I want that same or similar sound...deep and mean!

Magnaflow high flow cats+midpipes, and magnaflow catback, its the best bang for the buck.

If price is no object then get the bassani.

Once again this will turn into a 13 page post about who is better than who but its all up to you and what you prefer. I for one use JDM silver bullets and Maganflow cats and it sounds great in my opion.

MAC catback is inexpensive and has a real nice low growl sound that has a little raspy when you let off the gas and the RPM's start to come down. It DOES NOT sound like a glass pack.

Bassani probably sound the best of all the cat backs.

I found that with stock cats a x-pipe with no mufflers sounds great. It is much louder than my Magnaflow was. At WOT it gets a little loud but i love it, cant wait to take the cats off.

I had the old JDM silver-Bullets cats, we then switched to our own custom 3" Cat-back and it sounds very very deep, and this was with cats. Its still in the works. But feel free to browse around, I like the magnaflow as far as production setups. But none beats the sound of a 3", when you go WOT forget about it.

I agree with Blue SVT.

All I did was delete my muffler (but the X pipe sounds like it could be good too).

Mine sounds exactly how I wanted it. It idles as quite as stock, but shakes the truck a tiny bit. But at WOT it is loud as all hell. While cruising around town its deep and not too lound.

Right now I just have a single magaflow muffler...it's quiet @ idle and highway but loud when I get on it. Howerver, I want something louder!

I heard a L w/ Bassani the other night and was not impressed. Dunno if it was the truck or what but did not do it for me. Especially for that amount of money but just my own opionon. I have also heard a lot of good things about that system so dunno.

Flowmaster Tone

I have the Flowmaster American thunder cat-back kit, and it was ony around 300 bucks and was available within 5 days from Summit Racing. It's not at all loud until WOT but has a really nice tone to it, and the price was right. I still have the 4 stock cats and those are the reason for the noise deadening. If you're from california or if your state doesn't allow catalytic converters without the 50-state approval, keep in mind that they don't make a 50-STATE LEGAL converter system to my knowledge as of yet for these trucks. (please correct me if I'm wrong)
This is what I'm going to do to mine.... I am going to find a used set of FACTORY catalytic converters on ebay or something, and hollow-out a set for racing (mine or the extra set, whichever) I will then have 2 sets, one that are hollowed out, and one that is not. This will also be good for driving around because it will LOOK legal but should sound awesome. This should be loud coupled with the Flowmaster cat-back system as well. Then I will just swap out the factory cats come smog time. Now I will have to either get the MIL eliminators or use a tuner to turn off the check engine light. The 2nd set of O2 sensors will know that the cats aren't there, but it wont effect performance. That's how i did it on My 5.0 Mustang and it was the best sounding Mustang in town. Loud as hell, but had an awesome tone to it. On the 'Stang the sound difference without the cats was HUGE! Flowmasters have always sounded better without cats anyway. They just don't have that BARK when coupled with a catalytic converter.
Sounds like since your cats are bad anyways, maybe you should hollow them out and go from there? From what I've seen you have to either get rid of the mufler all together, and run just stock cats, or eliminate the stock cats and run a muffler to get a loud sound out of these trucks. But something has to be removed, the 4 cats on the stock application just plain SUCK, and coupled with ANY muffler just isn't loud enough. SO I wouldn't waste my money on a cat-back sytem ALONE hoping that it will make it sound mean with the stock cats. Just some ideas for ya, sorry no definite answer. I'm a "try-it" kinda guy but I'm also a mechanic and I can do the labor without any cost to me. Heck, you might even try hollowing out your cats and using the stock muffler. ?? If you want to cut cost and try something new there's always a way around things. It just depends on how much you can do, and what you consider RIGGING things. Good luck and if you're not a "do it yourself-er" then my advice may not be that great for ya. BK
