Spherical Valves

Wow... This could be a new frontier to explore for performance gains. I've submitted myself on a private invite to become a test-bed for the technology. Has anybody else delved into this, or seen it in action? I wonder how well this would work on a S/C application?

i found those guys back in '99. i emailed them recently about the heads. here is the response:

February 1, 2005

Re: Heads Info

Mr. Clements, your January 6th email reached us, and it is a pleasure to hear from you. Our innovative patented CSRV system has not been made available to the motoring public to purchase, and management has not set a specific date for releasing it to the public. Our product mix has temporarily moved away from auto refitting to (1) electrical generation, (2) pumping, and (3) large truck engines; and in a short time it will include a Coates air cooled V twin heavy cruiser motorcycle powered by the CSRV system.
While we have no product catalogs or pricing sheets that have been assembled, management continues to have a positive outlook for the generic OE and refitting venues, and we have noticed that the domestic smallblock V 8 engines, including the small block V 8’s seem to be extremely popular with our emailers. Each engine model requires a specific detailed evaluation by our “r & d” team which has not been directed to look a the multiplicity of these particular engines, and the time to give them their just due still hasn’t quite arrived; no timetable has been established by the company for doing so.
We can understand your inquiry about the individual engines noted above, but the company does not sell its products to individuals, although inquiries are received on a daily basis from individuals and car concept developers all over the world seeking high horsepower and better drivability. However, from my comments above, you can see that we already have quite a full plate.
Under these circumstances, about the only thing we might suggest is that you periodically visit website www.coatesengine.com so that you may read the postings that will inform the public of changes in our product development schedule. Thank you for contacting the Coates organization.

Sincerely,
Dr. Richard Evans
Director

PS: We do not currently manufacture engines for individual motorists. Making single
copies of an engine for someone is not part of our business plan. The CSRV system
we believe can be adapted to nearly all internal combustion engines which utilize
poppet valves in their operation. Thus, there are many opportunities for the company
to expand its business: light aircraft, small helicopters, snow blowers, snowmobiles,
ocean-going liners, small harborcraft, locomotives, home generators, etc. as well as
those applications routinely found in transportation, military, and construction
activities.

i would think that the supercharger would run out of steam way before you reached a point where the heads would be a restriction.

it would be nice for a super high revving n/a motor though. i think the design is revolutionary, and i have been wanting a set for years now. maybe i will be able to afford them by the time they actually produce some.

He's had the setup for years. He's trying to get major industries to buy into the design. My brother has seen the bike, and one of his customers knows the guy personally, and said he's got a 4.6 Mustang that makes like 3 times the stock hp with just adding his heads. I'd think if he's done a 4.6 head, it would be that much closer to what we need, but from what I understand he's not concentrating on the auto market anymore.

Do a search, I've already brought up this discussion before.

I think it is a great idea. eliminating the cork (valve) from the folw into the combustion chamber is a great advancement. Think how much air can flow in if it does not have to flow around a valve.
I applaud anyone with the ***** to do something not accepted by the major auto companys. Hope it works out.
