Question Help with Rotors/Bearings/Races!!!

Do the rotorpros rotors come with new races? If not, how the heck do I get my old races out of the factory hub? I've never removed them and I don't want to mess them up.

Please help!!!

Thanks,
Jim

yes rotorpros come with new races. all you need to do is repack your stockers and get new grease seals and your set.

SWEEEEEEETTTTTTTT,

I started to try and remove the old races but there was no way I was going to get them out. I used a small "punch" and was tapping it with a hammer but those things won't budge. I have new seals and I will just reuse the bearings (they looked to be in "like new" condition). Any tips for cleaning them before I repack them? Also do you need to apply grease to the inside of the rotor or hub and what about the axle?

Thanks for the info!

Jim

clean them up with some brake clean and set them out to dry for a bit then pack them real good with new grease. put a skim coat of grease on the axle and i usually do put a bit of grease in the hub

LightninMike,

Thanks for the info...now that I don't need the races, I should be good. However, any tips on getting the things out of the hub?

Jon,

Some people reuse the seals, I bought some new ones because I couldn't get them out of the hub without messing them up.

Go here for the part numbers if you ever need them in the future.

BTW...thanks fore the email replies!

Never re-use old bearings and races. Always replace with new. Also not good to mix old with new.

Exactly. Of course old bearings look new, their whole life is covered in grease. You can't mix old and new because they have to make their own groove when thay are new, when you put new races in with old bearings they tend to wear out much quicker.

The bearings come as "sets" for a reason. Don't mix old
and new because they won't work very well. Taking a
chance on frying your spindle (Then LOTS of bucks!) over
a low dollar item makes no sense on any performance vehicle.

I think the Brembo kits came with all new bearings in the hats.

Or you can just tap or press out the races on your existing ones.
They're HARDENED, so it's not like you can hurt them using a punch,
but a press is better.

try this HOW-TO for rotors and pads (not a bad idea to do pads at this time):
PADS: http://www.nloc.net/~bigd/Flashes_Ho...d%20repair.pdf

ROTORS: http://www.nloc.net/~bigd/Flashes_Ho...%20service.pdf
