Problem with Air Conditioning

My AC just quit working. It still blows air out, but nothing cold. Anybody have any idea what could be wrong? I'm hoping maybe it's just a fuse, anybody know which fuse i can check? two days before it went out I installed a new catback, I don't think theres any corelation but maybe there is. I also got a flat tire so probably just a string of bad luck but oh well.

The first thing you want to check it to see if the compressor engages when you turn the A/C on. The compressor has a magnetic clutch so the pulley spins free unles the clutch is powered. The A/C system is "smart" enough that if it is low on Freon, it won't come on. The A/C sytem is also controlled by the engine management system which tells the system when to cycle on and off. It even includes a function to turn the A/C of at wide open throttle. The usual problem is being low on freon. You may also have somehow caused the electrical connector to come off the compressor. If it not one of those two things, it will probably require an A/C technician to diagnose and repair it.

hopefully it is not the compressor ($$$). might just need a little refrigerant (R132A i think) added. they sell recharge kits with refrigerant at auto parts stores (like $35) but you want to make sure you are adding the right amount to the correct side of the system and at the right PSI.

i wondered if you were still in the area, looks like you moved down south. hey, you didn't by chance have the VT SVT license plate that I wanted do you ? I am Hokie alum and I used to have VT Z28 on my camaro (black w/ white stripes).

good luck with the A/C.

Nope, not still in the area. Moved down here about 2 months ago. I too am Hokie alum but never had the VT SVT plate, only the screen name

Truck will go into ford this week. Still have 3000 miles left on the warranty, was hoping it was something quick and easy but guess not.
