Very nice. With most cameras you can take a light reading up close, then hold that setting and back up. Keep in mind though if your background comprises too much of the picture, your photo wil have a washed out background, however your truck (the subject) will be correct. It's basically the sun over your shoulder idea, not over the subject.

The only way that I got the sun to shine correctly on my truck (also black) was to make sure that the sun was directly behind me when I took the pic, and then to step off to the side a little in order to get all the right reflections off of the paint.

1. Avoid the light background where possible
2. Switch the camera to spot metering
3. Force a flash

Take your pictures later in the afternoon, or while there is cloud cover and it will help out a LOT

BTW; trucks looks great! What wheels are those? Boyd Patriots?

DO NOT USE FLASH!

a flash makes a large spot, or in some cases a whole "row" of brightness in a picture which draws your attn to that spot.

ex. tim's pic. wheels, grill surround, headlight, exhaust. All have bright light, but the rest of the truck has soft light from a sunset.

in other cases (protrait, close objects, place settings ect...) flash can be very good.

best is to have constant filtered light, or if you know how to do it, use exposure to your adv.

Thanks for the tips, the truck just looks too dark in the pics, I'll have to try putting the sun behind me next time out. I only took 2 pictures total, so i didnt get to pick out the best, or whatever u wanna call it. Sam, we'll have to do that whenever we meet up.
Casey, yep they are the Patriots.
