JDM E-fan question... Does this look right?

I am in the process of putting in a JDM E-fan and am running into an issue with the wiring of the fan it-self (Yes this should be the easiest part of the process)

The directions say to hook the connector into the fan body as shown above, but in my directions I have no picture to reference. What I am running into is that when I put the plug from the fan into the hole that would make sense to plug into I hit the bracket that connects the fan to the shroud and then the shroud gets in the way, not allowing me to plug the connector in. Is the fan mounted correctly into the shroud? Does anyone have any pics of there fans and how they are wired? Am I missing something simple?

Pics...

Looks like I might have the older version because my connector at the fan is one piece with the wiring harness. I do not have the seperator pigtail like you have...

I would just connect the plugs there by the shroud and use a zip tie too keep it in place... Looks like some re engineering is needed
