Burnout issues at the track
Burnout issues at the track
Hey guys, got a little issue, had another post but i dont think anybody really read it. Anyway, when in the burnout box, i can begine my burn out, go thru first gear smoothly, shift to second, smoke for a couple seconds, then all i hear is whine(boost), and i can watch the rpms dropping. This happened each time i was burning out friday, and i had to get out of it because i thought the truck was going to cut out if i stayed in it. New fuel filter, boost bypass, etc all hooked up. Dyno tune by jlp. Does anybody else have this issue while burning out? Does this mean i have a weak converter, or weak second gear? well any help would be appreciated. Oh yea, 28" hoosiers were the tire if that matters.

during my burnout i punch it starts smoking good shifts to second and rpm's go way down thats when i let off the brake and still flooring it that usually takes care of it they pick back up very quickly. hope that helps (i figure i just need some more power)
hmmm
this is what i found to be best.
I found dropping it right into 2nd for the burnout was best.......
Leting it shift itself and manually shifting from 1-2 never seemed right.
If you are gonna go to the track alot, buy a line lock to hold the front brakes on so you can let the backs off. One of the best mods and it saves your brakes.
Put it in second. Spin in GOOD in the water box. Pull out. I usually spin em up in the 3k-3.5k range.......just barely hitting boost. If you count in your head till about 4 all in the sudden the rpms will bog and you know they are ready to go. Like the other guy said, let off the brake and give it a little gas and roll out of it and up to the line.
Then all you have to do is find the sweet spot of your truck to launch. 4 years later i'm still waiting!!! I'm gonna have different slicks, i'll try them.

mine boggs for sure i did it twice, once w/ the boost bypass plugged in and then unplugged, no difference. i guess they are just getting sticky because sometimes i notice only one tire is spinning so i try and get out of it quick. i always angle my mirrors at my tires ever since i watched a vid of my slef doing a nice one tire burnout and didnt even know it at the time.
