a bit more power

morning all.
im on a bit of an improvement course for my '99 L at the moment.
ive put on lowered suspension, wheels are on order, exhaust is done so now its time for a bit of a power boost.
i want my truck to stay reliable and hopefully not blow plugs etc and im also in the UK so can do without major problems.
any suggestions for a power increase within safe limits?
ive got an in box K&N filter already fitted so wondered what direction to go next.
you guys know a lot more about these trucks than we do in the UK so i would appreciate your advice.
thanks.
mike.

chip pulley and do this to your stock box except mine was done before everyone started cutting 3" holes with a hole saw and running a fresh air tube to it.

4# is a safe, noticable, and common number!
