My L. takes on EVO. 8

Hey guys just thought I'd share a little bit of fun I just had tonight. There is a new EVO 8 in town and I heard thew the small town I live in that he wanted a pice of the black L with VETEATR on the plate. So a friend of mine sets up the race. I meet him out on a old deserted highway. He tells me he wants to go from a 20 roll. "Sounds great to me!" So we start rolling and I do a 3,2,1, then drop my hand and were off. I pulled on him good right from the get go. Then he held pretty even in 2nd. He said when he shifted to 3rd. I pulled some more. I put him 5 car lenghts behind me when we hit 120. When we pulled over all he could say is "wow! That f@#$er is fast."

I have most of the bolt on mods. I was on my race tune with 100 octane. I'm at 5,000 feet so I'm only getting about 9#'s of boost with a 4#er and everything from the heads up ported. I was also on 22's and had a little spin going into second. Just thought you guys would want to hear the good news. He filmed it so if I can get ahold of it i'll try and post it.

He would have had a better chance if he raced from a dead dig, with the AWD.

Congrats! That's not your typical little ricer!

You can't be stock.

A Japanese evo would have eatten your lunch from a stop light, and modded, well no contest (you don't have JATO do you?). If I can dig it up, I have a video that I made in Japan where some kid has a 9.0 second Vett and he gets simple killed by almost every evo that he raced against that day. The races were aways the same, the evos would leave the Vett in the dust and the Vett would play catch up. Too bad the Vett needed 1/2 mile to do so.

Other than dual turbo NSX's, a misplaced Skyline, or older Supras, the evos rule in Japan. All it takes is money to go fast, and there's a heck of a lot more money in Japan than here. Oh and a heck of a lot more old muscle cars then you see here too, surprisingly?

I will go on record by saying that I don't know that much about the evos sold here in the US, so maybe you got a anemic one to play with?

I will agree with that, but that statement applies to every single vehicle including the lightning. See Johnny L and many others.

Oh and he did not say he is stock, unless you were only making a statement that a stock L cannot take a evo 8. This is what he said "I have most of the bolt on mods. I was on my race tune with 100 octane"

I concur with the above post. STi's and EVO's will rape you from the hole, and if they are modded, even more so. AWD rules all, and our trucks are sorely traction limited.

His mistake may have been asking to race from a roll...

If you have the right tires and proper driver, our trucks hook better than most on the street. I have raced both sti's and evo's on the street and have yet to be holeshotted. I am not stock and neither was any one I raced.

Whats JATO???

I didnt even know the car was AWD. I thought it was front. He sure did screw up there.

It was bone stock... what spec? I have no idea. I highly doubt it was imported from japan. He said he paid almost 30g for it.

The mods I have are:FTVB, SBTB, CAI, 160T.stat. P/P heads, Ported eaton, C&L plenum, it22's, cats back, 4# lower, Predator race tune at the time. With all that and the 4.10 gears is most likely why I had a little spin going into second on my 22's. Befor I did the gears mine also would hardly spin from a dig.

I have yet to see anybody in a evo that can launch... a few friends in wrx's and sti's that can pull a nice holeshot from about 6grand, every stock evo ive seen is a 14sec car with a 17 year old driving it...

It's an awd, and if it was stock he would run a low 13. With a good driver of course.

so what you're trying to say is that the vette really was faster but the guy coudln't drive it for *****... I'm going to have to raise the BS flag on there being multiple low 9s/high 8 evos in existance....
