Need someone to agree or disagree
I have been searching and reading a lot on this board and the time has come that I want to change my exhaust but I want to share with yall my idea and tell me if I am correct or need to keep searching. Now keep in mind my truck only has a JDM flip chip and a K&N Filter.
I want to get a basani catback and remove 2 of the 4 cats(for that small amount of topend) but in doing so i am going to lose a little torque. Not much i understand but enough. So my thought consists of making up for the small loss with a 2lb lower, this way i'll have a different sound but wont lose any bottem end without doing anything drastic.....yet
Later I will be going crazy and doing the long tube setup with alot of other mods but for now would this work? And will the change be enough to reburn or leave as is?
Thanks
Josh

an extra 2 lbs. of boost is fine on the stock program, but on your chip
you should call JDM and see what they say, as they did the tune. ask them if it would be ok to put the 2 lber on with the tune they gave you. definately get it checked out afterwards on a dyno to be sure the a/f is safe. if you need a reburn, you might as well step up to the 4#er
the main problem with the chip they gave you is the timing could be a touch high for a 2#er, but in all honesty, i think it would be fine. it you EVER hear it ping, yank the chip and check the plugs.

sounds good, you'll gain alot of sound from removing the 2 cats also. I'd just go with the 4lb pulley though, you'll save money b/c your going to end up doing it anyway. and get a reburn, and FTVB if you don't have one.
if your only gone use a 2lb lower just lose the chip, it probably isnt doing much for ya anyway and if it isnt a SCT chip and its a superchips chip nobody tunes them anymore anyway including JDM
and i would just toss a catback on and call it a day, if you are gona do LT's in the future anyway why cut up a good midpipe

adding Bassani mid pipes (basically switching to a 2-cat setup) added 10 lbs. of torque and robbed 2 hp on my truck. Every truck is different.
do the exhaust first. If you feel you need to add something after... then decide on how much boost.
jmo.

I run JDM/Kooks LT's, no cats, and Bassani. I love the sound. Some people say it sounds too loud, but it's DEEEEEEP as heck, I love it. I drive it that way all the time, the noise never really bothers me, but I have 3000watts of stereo to mask it a little too.

the better flowing exhaust will be great for your motor
i wouldn't remove the cats JUST for "that small amount of topend" as you say... throw the pullies on there for that. you'll have a totally different sound with the bassani regardless. the pullies really add the "cool" sound, IMHO, if they're with a filter kit. i bet when we're at the track a lot of the guys think "well you know you're running that damn Lightning truck when you hear that funny loud azz whine running up on ya!"
