I recently put my 99 lightning on a scanner to see why it was skipping it gave me two codes po171 and po174 can anyone tell me what that mean trying not to go to the dealer

You could have a coil pack starting to go bad, but as brain bypass stated - those 2 codes are 99.999% of the time an air/vacuum leak.
