acetoned badges

I'm thinking of doing this right now because I'm bored and need something to occupy myself... My question is do I have to remove the badges to do it??
Also, if anyone happens to have any pics of sonic blue Ls with this done that'd be great.
Don't tell me to use the search function either because I don't have time for that crap.

Thanks

Here are some pics from my old truck (not Sonic Blue, but True Blue)...

I'm going to be doing the same to my Sonic Blue truck. IMO, acetoned badges don't look great unless you have other chrome/billet pieces to go with it. The acetoned badges are sort of an accent to the picture.

Thanks. I still plan on getting chrome 03/04 wheels in the near future... Or on a cold day in hell if I happen to find Pro Star XPs in 18s I will buy those.

You'll want to do them on the trucka nd use plenty of painters masking tape to keep the chemicals off you paint. I have some pics of a Sonic at home that I can post later for you.

LA you know my trucks black, but I did them on my truck with a rag, a roll of painters tape, and a can of brake cleaner...me and a friend carefully masked off a good area around the emblems, then while he held a rag on the bottom to make sure to catch all the run off, I sprayed some cleaner on...let it sit for a min, then sprayed some more...then I took another rag and wiped the black crud off like butter.....didnt even need Q-tips...came out mint.

Ouch ... BRAKE CLEANER?

I used the q-tip and fingernail polish remover version and it took hours.
Didn't have to mask anything though. Lot's of rubbing and LOTS of Q-TIPS.

You know how VHT smears when you try to remove it? Well, the black is the same.

you definitely need some other bling on it to look good. But when you do it be very careful to completely mask off the areas around the badges. the acetone will eat right through the clearcoat. I did it to my rear emblem and didnt' mask it off completely. Ate away some of the clear. Took a rewaxing to fix it, and you cant tell now, but defintiely take your time doing that.

Thanks guys... Maybe when I have a whole day full of nothing I'll try it. If I F up the truck I'll just take it back to the dealer and say I don't know what happened with that dumb look on my face.
