By doing it the way they have the demad will exceed the initial supply. Which means they will profit immediately rather than laying out big $$ and waiting to advrtise until the product is ready to ship. From a marketing point it is a very smart practice. Ever go to a movie and see a preview for an upcoming movie due to be released several months later??? Same concept. Create a frenzy for the new product. Once released and documented evidence is published the product will carry itself. Until then they need to maintain interest in the new product. Saying they are a "bad" company for doing this is turning a blind eye to the marketing world. Why do auto makers produce concept cars? To get us interested in their products. Absolutely the same principle applies. They tease us with a sneak peak at the future with no definate rease date. Look at it from a marketing perspective and it is very smart. Look at it from a consumer perspective who wants it NOW it sucks. Go back in the archives and try a search under M166. If the threads still exist you may get some enjoyment out of reading them.
hell even Nintendo did that when N64's came out right at christmas time, they had supply shortage. also kinda the same story with the PS2's when they came out, a supply shortage.

LOL.... you have no idea what is going... They did not just announce a new product is coming out... They came and posted on every board in Dec or Jan and stated they would be out in two weeks and even promised them to some people for some events that were about 5-6 weeks away and even took orders with the 2 week delivery PROMISE. Well two months later, people called and they stated it would only be another 2 weeks because of one issue, then one month later they said it would be two weeks because of another issue, then a month later is was a third issue and it would still be only two more weeks... Their issue is not about announcing they had a product coming out... Its about promising people a delivery date and then repeatly lying about why and when it will be out... Some people were relying on them to deliver... I almost sold my KB and placed an order for this new unit... After all of this, combined with the fact the KB has been great to me, I will not buy from them ever... But, I really hope they make a good product because more competitors with good products will maybe bring some prices down and increase qualities even more...

By the way, I know plenty about my truck, but thanks for your concern, maybe you should be more informed on what issues some people have with whipple before you lecture us.

thats an interesting point of view. i suppose i would be pissed if i sold my KB for a whipple that was slated to come out in 2 weeks, and then it never came out. either way if and when it does come out i may be in the market for one. their marketing just sucks

I know very well the situation. I have chosen up until now to remain on the sideline. But thank's for confirming that you don't even have one on order. Why raise the ruckus? Because you almost ordered one? I am sure Whipple is very saddened by your decision to never do business with them. Like I stated earlier had you been around when the GenII aftermarket was starting out you would still be stock with that mentality. So now that we all know you won't deal with Whipple why not find a new crusade?

Thanks for confirming you have no idea what is going on... If you did, you wouldn't use the examples you did and state they are just preadvertising like other companies... That is completely innaccurate... Move along now...

If you notice, I said I hope they come out with a good product because it helps all of us...

Hypo theorically speaking....there is going to be some mad SOB's around here if the Whipple doesn't live up to the hype. I think after all of this they could at least go thru with the KB/Whipple back to back test that was promised months ago. I'm still waiting for that, I can almost guess the results but I want to see it.
