Lowering question?
Hi guys I want to drop my 04 L but I dont have too much $$$. I was thinking to put some hangers and 2 inch drop springs I already have 2inch shackles on, so would this be a good idea? would I have problems? I want at leat 2/4 drop.
that should be fine.
don't forget about shorter shocks also. Put the cambolts on the front so you can get it aligned, and shorter endlinks also. for the rear, you may need to shim the rear end to keep you pinion angle where ti should be. re level the rear sway bar also by re-drilling the mounting holes in the frame.

On my '04 I went with the JLP 3" shackles, shorty shocks and SoCal adjustable end-links. Did not lower the front because the roads in Colorado are stuck in the 19th century and the ruts will tear the front off a lowered L. Truck looks slightly raked and brings the a** down nicely. Cost was not bad.
I was thinking in getting a ground force kit for 475 shipped. I call a local preformance store and the would charge me 670 to install
, another said that he would charge me 65 an hour. how many hours does it take to install? I didnt realized that it was going to be that much, thats why I wanted to know if the hangers and springs alone would do the job.

hangers will take a while as you have to cut off 8 rivet on the factory ones. where are you located? maybe somebody on here can help you do it to save some $.

Hold on a second here guys... and Leeann
The rear shackle install requires no drilling... just support the rear end and swao the shackles out. If you opt for the Bell Tech rear hangers, then yes, you will have to cut off the hanger locators, and relocate them by drilling new holes. If you just swap out the hangers, that is a 15 minute job.
Now, for the front springs... I would highly suggest the BellTech 4804 coils as I did see a little over 2" drop evenly fronm side to side. I have tried FRPP/Ground Force springs in the front and none that I have had were ever level side to side (truck was level side to side to start with). I did not like the ride either as they were a bit soft in my mind. Also, stay away from Eibachs as the coils will touch each other after being on the truck for a little bit.
The spring change in the front is quick and easy... should not take more than a half hour per side and is very easy to do. You have to put cam bolts in as you do this, and that is ver y easy. If you lived closer, I would do it for you for free.. it is honestly not hard at all.
My set up on my truck is Belltechs up front, and JLP 2/3/4 shackles on the back. I do not believe this shackle is available from them anymore.
