Local service manager contacted his boss, the "Regional" something or other. The higher ups are aware of the paint disaster that Ford had about 10-15 years ago when the silver paint was peeling off the Mustangs.
To make a long story short...Ford agreed to pay half. I took the deal. I had to pay $189.00.
Tell the service manager that you have been in contact with SVT and they told you that you that Ford was reparing them outside the warranty and you should be OK under extended warranty.
I hope my experience can help you out, too.

but yeh i know what you are talking about and i have seen how bad it can get
I too have a 00 with bubbling paint on hood. Took it to local repair shop (private) and he said to replace hood as once it begins to oxidize, the hood is shot - repaint will not last a year. I am going to try and persue Ford and/or SVT as I think this is a defect and I should not have to pay. Truck has 21k miles on it.

Hood rot
My '00 hood started rotting last year, the dealer told me I could either pay for it myself or hope it rusted through before the xtended warranty ran out. I just let it go, my warranty ran out last month and it's just about coming through now. FRRRRKKKK
Can anyone recommend a good aftermarket hood with single scoop functinal cool air?
