lost boost??
lost boost??
I have been trying to track my lost boost all day and came up with little. I usually push 16 lbs now all I can get is a steady 12.
What i know:
1. Oil in intake. Took blower off cleaned intercooler ect.
installed valve cover breathers, blocked pcv system.
2. Oil in line going to boost actuator. Took it off and got about 3 oz. of oil out of it
(boost actuator)
3. I havent got into the truck in 3 months do to tranny prob. Now I have BTS tranny with pi stall.(not really related)
Only thing I can think off is a bad or failing actuator.
If anyone could help would be much appreciated!
Apten port/ 6lb lower/good belt/metco tensioner.
thx

(boost actuator)HUH? can you explain this a little more? You got oil going into the boost actuator from the hose on the top?
I'm thinking you have it plumbed wrong when you put the intake back together from cleaning the Intercooler.
cleaned intercooler, all new gaskets and bolts, torque specs verified twice.
All plumbing reattached in the proper locations.
lost about 5# on the Autometer boost gauge (HD's don't have stock boost gauge).
6# lower, HD upper, Metco idler, new gatorback belt.
Haven't been to the track yet to check if timeslips are out of whack.
The vac line going to the elbow/power pipe attaches to the bottom half of the actuator.
Very confused.

The way I remember pink line on top of actuator. Black line to power pipe(or elbow).
Is this wrong?

just checked the truck.
I do believe the pink line goes on the upper half of the actuator. That is how mine is. Maybe this is our problem.

Bob,
I just looked at mine and the top line from the actuator goes to a tee which then goes to my boost gauge and then off somewhere else behind the blower. My pink line is blocked off(boost bypass). here are pics:

the lower one does in fact go the the intake boot(small line)
edit:
upon further review, mine is the boost bypass mod setup. The pink line does go to the top of the boost actuator.. Read the following I found:
http://www.svtlightnings.com/svt/how...bypass_mod.htm
Remove the pink line from the top of the boost control diaphragm valve, (not
the solenoid valve) and plug it.......
the solenoid valve) and plug it.......

Ya I checked mine again its all hooked up right. pink line is bp mod, black line to elbow. I guess I need to mess with the adjustment. I use to see a good 15lbs of boost now I see about 12lbs. It is less the lower the gear....just feels like it has no ***** down low. Could it be the stall??

Ooops!! I see you already decided to mess with the adjustment.

did you notice the loss in boost (at the gauge) before or after you took off the blower etc.?
also, where did you install the breathers and was that before or after you noticed the loss?
basically... what did you do right before you noticed the loss, or has this all been in an attempt to "fix" the issue?
It's just my opinion that you should try and determine what is wrong before you add any additional parts or change anything around. (based on the premise that at one point everything worked fine without breathers, etc.)

edit: at one point, I had a similar issue (either 100% boost or no boost at all). Turned out to be a bad boost selenoid. The check engine light never came on, but the scanner picked it up. This happened right after doing the boost bypass mod (messing with vacuum lines). Worth checking anyways.
