This is a picture of the passenger Front tire!
The front bumper is -------------------------------------------> that way.
the rear bumper is <--------------------------------------------- that way

Drive forward that tire will turn Clockwise.

You want the internal vanes of the rotor to face rearward. The red truck has it backwards.

Does it matter on the solid rear rotors. Its 105 degrees out here, so I had a local shop do mine. The fronts are the same as the pic of the black truck. On the rears the slots face forward...

The rears are the easiest to change yourself.
Take the tire/rim off
take out the 2 bolts holding the caliper on.
pull rotor off.

I think thats all you have to do.

Internal

Look at the internals, the external slots can go either direction.

On the Brembo kits, the slots go like the red truck, not sure about other kits.

Here's the direction on the Baers on my Camaro; the slots face forward. This pic is of the passenger side with the front of the car going to the right side of the pic.

So..................

What is the correct way? Or, does it depend on the brake kit and the vehicle?

I see Jody's one way and then Sal saying they need to be the other way.

The vanes on a STOCK rotor are NOT directional so the slots should be facing as the wheel rolls forward it spins the gases of the rotor and not into it.If the vanes were directional then you go off the way the vanes go and NOT what is on the outside.Stan

Exactly! It's the inside vanes that take first priority.

You want the rotor to be a centrifugal "air" pump from the center
outward. NOT a air scooper. Then it just depends which way
the slots were machined. I have heard that the outer most part
should contact the pad first. That's the way my Brembos set up.

Good Luck ... Mo' better brakes are just soooo much fun.

Those are Brembo's in the picture I posted. (It's my old car)
Like everyone said, the red truck is backwards.
