I have a 99L and the mirrors are all black and I wanted to paint that cap on the mirror to match the truck like the newer L's have. Is there any way to take that cap off to paint it or do I have to remove the whole mirror assembly? I just looked at it and it definitly looks like it clips on but I do not want to break it. Thanks for your help in advance.

 

You don't need to remove the whole mirror. All you need is a long flathead screwdriver. Position the mirrors to where you have access to the tabs and just pry the tabs just enough to come lose. I believe there is 2 tabs on top and 2 at the bottom. Hope this helps.
