How do you remove parking brake cable?

I need to replace the parking (emergency) brake cable on the drivers side (the small cable). Problem is, I cannot get enough slack in the cable to get it off the arm on the rear brake. Is there a trick that I am missing?

Thanks!

If you have to replace it just cut it. I took mine off once; just can't remember what I did. I do rememeber that there is a rubber plug on the back of the brake backing plate and you can take it out and there is an "adjuster" you can run in with a screw driver. It is a click style looks like a sprocket.

up by the cab is a connector, pull slack into cable on both sides and rotate apart.

Got it guys, thanks! I cut the old one off and my dad helped me pull slack from towards the cab. Definately would have been hard if not impossible to do by myself!
